Greg,
Mark Lucius wins many of your golf AND Oscar competitions. (One of your letters says he’s 7 for 7 in the Oscar contest. Is that correct?).
At the risk of being called a sore loser, I would like to suggest that in light of the past GPI scorkeeing scandal, I think an investigation into Mark’s uncanny Oscar contest performance is in order. I propose that you hire a blue ribbon commission.
A suggestion: Tommy Thompson’s probably not too busy. In fact, a friend of mine suggested his Presidental candidacy is in fact a ploy to garner contributions to pass on to the eventual G.O.P. candidate, so he might be interested if the price is right.

Happy Birthday! I was just in Ohio visiting my mother and she had obtained a copy of Ryan’s Daughter from the library, wanting me to see the scenery. I agreed to watch a little to see the scenery and we ended up watching the whole thing. Mom had seen it in 1971, so she didn’t remember much. The scenery is indeed spectacular and featured as it should have been. Overall I liked the movie though people sure fell in love in a big hurry, and some of the characrters, Tim O’Leary, for example, were too stock. I also feel the British officer, Rose’s boyfriend, should have been given a line or two. Robert Mitchem was miscasted entirely. But it was well worth it for the scenery and priest and Michael. However old you are, Greg, I hope you don’t feel it. bill

It was the winter of 05 in the land of the free (home of the brave). Not a time known for credibility. Enron, Iraq and the just unjustly freed Scooter. But to each cloud there comes a silver, well you know. And there they were digging Robin of the house of Pluer, en francais, you dig. Greg and Lisa were introduced by the aforementioned chanteuse and the rest is, as they say, well you know.
In my gumshoe trade there are respites between filanderer following and keyhole sniffing. But none quite so complete as the Postles pair. Who among us is so comfortable in his epidermis as Sir Gregory? I would have to admit not I.

Happy Birthday, Greg, from a fellow Cancerian. I would like to offer you some quotes from “Sextrology: The Astrology of Sex and the Sexes.”
“Cancer man is the Zodiac’s Prince Charming, a self-professed perfect gentleman - clean-cut, polite, cooly composed...Notoriously artistic, he gravitates toward careers in which his sensorial spirit might flourish...He is, in any case, a hopeless romantic, forever lost in daydreams that feature him in heroic roles, a veritable Walter Mitty with not just one secret fantasy life but typically a slew of them.”
Who knew?

Happy Birthday plus 2 days, Greg!
I am a friend of Lisa’s. She and I have been in a book club together since 1990 when it was Webster’s Book Club. I have been at book club picnics at your house, and she has been to some at mine. I also live in Whitefish Bay but in the 53211 part. Lisa’s father is buried in St.Bruno’s cemetery in Dousman where my Koehler grandparents and many other of my relatives were laid to rest.
Lisa says you love it when people sign your guest book. You have a very nice website here! Happy 4th of July, too!

Dear Greg,
Happy belated birthday! Hope you and Lisa enjoyed the day. I liked reading through the birthday wishes and the speech about your top ten points. However people may know you as the smart dresser in the black shirt and jeans at the bottom of the Grand Canyon, I’ll always remember the guy I first met who wore overalls and no shirt. That’s the Contentintal Can man! You’ve still got the same exuberence and joi de vivre of that young man, only more so. We don’t see each other much, but I know we’re still friends. (Fifty-seven! You’re the same age as André, I never put that together. Must be cool, dude.)

Happy Birthday Greg,
Here is a birthday astronomy riddle for you. The kids at your school will love it. It is one of those ideas that are so simple a clever sixth grader could do the math and yet so astounding that you almost can’t believe it.
Here is the riddle:
Suppose that I could magically make you gigantic, in fact so gigantic that you weigh as much as the sun. And I replace sun with you. So now instead of a solar system with a yellow dwarf star at its center there is a solar system with a gigantic Greg at the center. Now the way the magic works you are still alive, even in the emptiness of space. And everything functions just it does for normal Greg. Your heart beats. You can look out at the earth. Your normal metabolic activities all take place. You radiate body heat into space, your brain function etc. All of this happens even though you don’t have food or water or air and your own gravity would normally crush you. In other words all of the physics of normal Greg stays the same (though scaled up) but by magic you are not harmed by this. However the rest of the solar system interacts with giant Greg just as though he were a scaled up version of normal living Greg with all of the normal physical laws in effect.
Let’s even say that Giant Greg could watch the earth from his vantage point at the center of the solar system and that he would live for millions of years.
Hear is the question.
What would he see happen to the Earth over time in a solar system without a sun but with a giant Greg that was exactly like a scaled up version of normal living Greg that weighed exactly the same as the sun?
I will give you a week or two to think about it. Let’s see of you can figure out what would happen.
Demetrius

Greg thank you for the invitation. I hate golf! Which is really too bad because from your photos I could enhance this lovely outing by adding much needed color to it. (Not to mention my quirky sense of humor and ofttimes acidic wit)
I could rationalize and tell myself that this event is not about GOLF per se, but about good people coming together for an even better cause. But as a former gulf widow I know the mind set: Chase that little white ball down, drive it with a few strokes as possible, knock it into the corresponding hole and be Master of the Universe. Not that there’s anything wrong with it...

After visiting your top 10 list it has occurred to me that I should attend the Gulf Tournament because I hate gulf! Where are my manners? I did not thank you for the Invitation. You are obviously a great man Greg. Seriously. But you were not always great. “Me” thinks your wife might have a little something to do with that! In conclusion, she must be great also!
You were always the greatest story teller I ever met in my whole life. Everyone has a story, but not everyone can tell a story.

Greg and Lisa - I had a great time at the golf outing 09/08/2007. My golf partners were Bob - Math teacher and his future son in law Joel. Joel came on very strong at the end to finish well. I think he will be well off the mark to win, but still a great finish. We played for fun and in that regard we won. Thanks again and it was a great time. David Miswald

Dear Greg:
Thank you so much for inviting Chuck (Charlie Larson) & I to your fabulous party!
I know Chuck was very confused as to who you were and got you mixed up with someone else (of his sister, Jan’s friends) way back when in 1971-I guess a lot happened to him when he was 15-a runaway and all the things he said you did to him-you really did not! I’m so sorry for that screw-up! At any rate-we just talked to Jan and she set the record straight! I hope she calls you as she said she would. God bless you and hope to see you again. We had the best time-it was truly one of the best parties we have ever attended!

Greg and Lisa,
It was truly a joy to be at the GPI. Thank you so much for having it and inviting me. My guestCongratulations on a classy event. And your hostesses didn’t miss a beat - very attentive!
There were many friends from UWM that I hadn’t seen for years (some for 20+!). It gave me the opportunity to reconnect and renew my appreciation for them. I plan to keep in contact more frequntly with many of them.
I look forward to next year’s event, God willing.

I glad my first GPI was in such high style for the 25th Anniversary, but now I’m sad to have missed so many in years before. What a pleasure and a treasure it was to enjoy the time on Saturday and celebrate a reunion of like minds, matched wits, and kindred spirits.
I certainly have plenty of material now for next year’s Top Ten list. (Personal experience gives one permission to be catty, don’t it?)
Thank you, again, Greg for an “un-be-LIEEEV-ably” good time.

Greg,
Mark Lucius wins many of your golf AND Oscar competitions.

A community builder and a friend beyond reproach. You gotta love this moke. Happy birthday, mon ami. And many more. And then some for good measure. Adieu

Who knew?

However people may know you as the smart dresser in the black shirt and jeans at the bottom of the Grand Canyon, I’ll always remember the guy I first met who wore overalls and no shirt.
Demetrius

It’s 10:45 on Friday night, we just got home from the neighbors’ house, I just read the “top ten” list from the invitation to Jane and Greg- a much as #1 could be ominous- Jane and I are drying our eyes. Great list!(Actually, #10 was also pretty great.)

Your website and the faces of your friends and family are a beautiful reflection of who you are. I will try to come!

Love, Peace & Happiness,
Brenda Larson

Lisa and Greg - Thank you so much for the wonderful, wonderful 25th anniversary of the GPI. It is always such a delight, and has become the best “holiday” of the summer. It’s big, big, I tell ya! As big as the 4th of July! Thanks again for your amazing hospitality.

Hi Greg, GREAT talking to you last night. When I said it was great to hear from you I really did mean it. After our conversation, I told my son about your picnic. We were both just amazed at what you are doing. I will get a copy of the reunion book to you, but I need your mailing address. You have my email address and my home address is as follows: 4442 Teeter Totter Circle, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80917. Look forward to one of those picnic invitations. Take care! LaMyra
